Bottomless

They say no man should walk alone,
So let me stroll with you.
I’ve tried to walk among my own,
But they drop like flies.
Drop in and out of love,
I sit here in the station watching them hop on different trains.
I choose a path, but each one is delayed.
I wish it were cancelled,
But you can’t cancel your thoughts.
Like permanent marker, they stay.
Once it is written, it is written.
And only occasionally those words will come to life,
To save us from ourselves.
I’ll keep falling down the rabbit hole,
Waiting to see what’s at the bottom.
